The insect protective clothing manufactured by The Original Bug Shirt Company is designed to protect against the biting insects so common to North America, the Tropics and most of the rest of the world.
The loose fitting design and specialized materials used in the construction of all our protective clothing, not only prevent mosquito bites, and protect the wearer from black flies, no-see-ums, deer flies, horse flies, tsetse flies and ticks, but can also reduce the risk of contracting the diseases these pests can carry, like Lyme Disease, West Nile Virus, Zika Virus and Malaria.
In your yard or on the other side of the earth, enjoy being outside during the biting insect season, whether you are camping, hiking, generally having fun (or even working!) without having to use DEET or other insect repellents.
Where The Original Bug Shirt touches your skin we use light weight but extremely densely woven fabric, not normally used in clothing. This is what stops the mosquitoes from being able to bite you. Where the shirt hangs away from your skin we use black no-see-um mesh – this keeps out all manner of tiny biters, lets the air through, and provides excellent visibility through the face screen.
